JOE KEYES & The Late Bloomer Band bring the insight, power, and creativity of the legendary Gil Scott Heron to the stage in spoken word and jazz/funk music. Described as a precursor to rap music, Gil Scott Heron introduced spoken word to a new generation in the 70s and 80s c...alling himself a "bluesologist," which he defined as "a scientist who is concerned with the origin of the blues." As we recognize his birthday (April 1, 1949), celebrate the man, celebrate the artist--Gil Scott Heron.

Joe Keyes & The Late Bloomer Band, with its 8 piece horn section and high energy sound, bring a vibrant show to the stage with classic tunes like "The Bottle," "Johannesburg," and "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised." Spoken word by Joe Keyes will pay honor to the artistic contributions of Gil Scott Heron.
